Frequently Asked Questions

What are the types of classes I will teach?

Subject Line of email: 15th min - Leaving the room
                  Name of student: Stefano
                  Date/Time: April 24/6:00 AM to 6:30 AM
                  Lesson Topic: Talking about books
                  Teacher: John Smith
Screenshot: (attach a screenshot of you in the room with the date and timestamp)

How would I know if I have a booked class?

You will receive an email notification with the class details (student's name, time, and date of the class). Refresh your Learntalk Dashboard every 3 minutes to check whether a student is calling you or has booked you.

If you fail to click the Join Room or Service Class button in the 2nd minute after your class start time, the auto-miss class is triggered and the system will automatically register the class as canceled or missed and you will incur a strike and a deduction.

Where can I download the lesson material?

All lesson materials are downloadable on your My Calendar page, Upcoming Classes section. Under your student's name, you will see the Download Lesson Plan link. You can download both the SG (Student's Guide) and the TG (Teacher's Guide). Only the SG will appear on the screen on the whiteboard of the Learntalk virtual classroom. You can open another tab to view the TG.

How can I join the room?

In the Upcoming Lessons panel on your My Calendar page, click the 'Join Room' button.

If you fail to click the Join Room or Service Class button in the 2nd minute after your class start time, the auto-miss class is triggered and the system will automatically register that class as canceled or missed, and you will incur a strike and a deduction. The deduction is based on the type of class that was canceled or missed.

How can I give student feedback?

Right after your class, a Feedback Report popup will appear on your screen. Rate the student's performance by giving them 1-5 stars in the following areas:

  1. Fluency, Linguistic Range, Phonetical Control, Grammatical Accuracy, Overall Comprehension

If you no longer see the popup, you can go to My Calendar > Completed Lessons tab > Click the (Give Feedback) link on the class entry.

Will I receive a Learntalk Now call if I am already in a class?

No. The system will automatically block all Learntalk Now calls from your student on your side if you have an upcoming booked 30-minute class.

What should I do if I receive a call from a student?

If you are ready, Accept the call. If not, Reject the call. If you are not sure, ignore the call. If the popup disappears, this means another teacher accepted the call. The default topic of Learntalk Now calls is Free Talk.

How can I edit my profile?

Just go to My Account and click Edit Profile.

How should I handle incidents that occur during class?

Report all incidents to operations@learntalk.org in the format below

Subject Line of email: Incident report
                    Name of student: Stefano
                    Date/Time: April 24/6:00 AM to 6:30 AM
                    Lesson Topic: Talking about books
                    Teacher: John Smith
                    Detailed description of the incident:
                    Screenshots:
(attach screenshots of you in the room with the date and timestamp)

What to do if the student can't see or hear me or is having a technical issue?

Advise the student to refresh the page initially. If the issue persists, smoothly transition the class to either Zoom or Google Meet to avoid wasting time. Ensure quick access to your links by using tools like Notepad or sticky notes.

What will happen if I cancel or miss a class?

Missed a Booked Private/Group class penalty:

          - Rate per lesson deduction and 1 strike* will be incurred.

*Upon reaching three strikes, your account will automatically be suspended.

What will happen if my account gets suspended?

- Upon suspension of your account, all scheduled sessions will be automatically missed as your account becomes inaccessible, preventing you from conducting any sessions during the suspension period.
- Immediately after your suspension, students will not be able to book you or see you on their dashboards.

For more information, visit your Materials page and review the Frequently Asked Questions section for guidelines regarding account suspension.

How much will I earn as a Learntalk teacher?
You will receive compensation based on the agreed-upon rate outlined in the Learntalk Tutoring Agreement.

Resignation/Exit Policy

All Learntalk teachers must provide written notice of resignation at least 30 days before the intended resignation unless specified otherwise in writing by Learntalk management. During this notice period, you are obligated to fulfill your scheduled classes; however, you may close out any unbooked availabilities on the platform.

Before officially concluding your contract, it is your responsibility to remove all availabilities listed on the platform beyond your termination date. Failure to comply with any of these requirements may result in the withholding of outstanding payments from the previous cutoff, considering them as a "bond" for proper contractual enforcement.
