Frequently Asked Questions

What are the types of classes I'll teach?

How would I know if I have a class?

You will receive a calendar invite email notification with the class details (student's name, time and date of the class). You will also receive an SMS 5 minutes before the start of your class and a call reminder 3 minutes before the start of your class. Refresh your Learntalk Dashboard every 5 minutes to check whether a student is calling you or has booked you. Keep your phone next to you to remind you of your class.

If you fail to click the Join Room or Service Class button on the 2nd minute after your class start time, the auto-miss class is triggered and the system will automatically register that class cancelled/missed and you will incur a strike and a deduction. The deduction is based on the type of class that was cancelled/missed.

Where can I download the lesson material?

All lesson materials are downloadable on your My Calendar page, Upcoming Classes section. Under your student's name, you will see the Download Lesson Plan link. You can download both the SG (Student's Guide) or the TG (Teacher's Guide).

The lesson materials will also automatically appear on the screen of the Learntalk virtual classroom. Students will only see the SG while you, the teacher, will see both the SG and TG. To zoom in and out, you may tell the student to click the + or - button that he/she sees on his lesson material screen.

How can I join the room?

In the upcoming lesson panel on your dashboard, click the 'Join Room' button.

If you fail to click the Join Room or Service Class button on the 2nd minute after your class start time, the auto-miss class is triggered and the system will automatically register that class cancelled/missed and you will incur a strike and a deduction. The deduction is based on the type of class that was cancelled/missed.

If you get booked for an off-platform class, instead of a 'Join Room' button, you will see a 'Call Now' and a 'Service Class' button. The 'Service Class' button serves as your 'Join Room' button. Click the 'Service Class' button to register you in the system logs as "Present" for that class. After clicking the 'Service Class' button, click 'Call Now' and wait for your student to respond. Off-platform classes are done on the Learntalk platform but it's a Learntalk platform to mobile phone class, not a face-to-face class inside the Learntalk virtual classroom.

How can I give student feedback?

Right after your class, a Feedback Report popup will appear on your screen. Rate the student's performance by giving him/her 1-5 stars in the following areas:

  1. Fluency, Linguistic Range, Phonetical Control, Grammatical Accuracy, Overall Comprehension

If you no longer see the popup, you can go to My Calendar > Completed Lessons tab > Click (Give Feedback) link on the class entry.

Will I receive a Learntalk Now call if I am already in a class?

No. The system will automatically block all Learntalk Now calls from your student on your side if you have an upcoming booked 30-minute class. For example, you are online from 8:00 am to 9:00 am and after refreshing your page, you see a booking for 9:00 am to 9:30 am. The latest Learntalk Now call that you will receive is at 8:15 am. If you don't get a call at 8:15 am, you will no longer get a Learntalk Now call between 8:16 am and 9:00 am as the remaining time before your next class is not equal to 30 minutes.

What should I do if I receive a call from a student?

If you are ready, Accept the call. If not, Reject the call. If you are not sure, ignore the call. If the popup disappears, this means another teacher accepted the call. The default topic of Learntalk Now calls is Free Talk.

For Tier 2 teachers, if you Reject a Learntalk Now call while you are online between 8:00 am and 10:00 pm (Vietnam time), the $1 bonus for that hour will not be credited to you.

How to edit my profile?

Just go to My Account and click Edit Profile.

What is the 'Call Now' and 'Service Class' button?

You will see the Call Now button on an upcoming class panel on your dashboard if your upcoming class is done off the Learntalk platform. We sometimes get students who would like to be called on their mobile phones or on Skype (for some B2E accounts), these are considered Off-Platform Classes. Off-Platform Classes are just like regular Private Classes but done outside the Learntalk virtual classroom.

You will see the Service Class button right under the Call Now button on an upcoming class panel on your dashboard if your upcoming class is done off the Learntalk platform. Always click the Service Class first before you click Call Now. If you click the Service Class button on time, the class will be registered to you. If you fail to click the Service Class button at the start of the class or on the 2nd minute after the start of the class, it will automatically convert to a missed class.

What is the 'Incident Report' link?

The Incident Report link will redirect you to a Google Form that you will have to fill out if there's anything that you'd like to report regarding the Learntalk platform, your students, your classes, the material, etc.

What to do if the students can't see/hear me?

We suggest you message the student via the platform first then check your camera/audio device.

What will happen if I cancel or miss a class?

Missed Booked Private/Group/Level Check class Penalty:

- Rate per lesson deduction and 1 strike* will be incurred. The teacher will be given his/her rate per lesson before their training.

*Upon reaching three strikes, your account will automatically be suspended.

What will happen if my account gets suspended?

    1.

- 24 hours after your suspension, all your upcoming booked slots will automatically become open bookings and other teachers can take them.
- Immediately after your suspension, all your unbooked slots will automatically be removed.
- 24 hours after your suspension, students will not be able to book you or see you on their dashboards.

For more information, go to your Materials page and read the Operations Processes and Protocols.

How much will I earn as a Learntalk teacher?

Every teacher has their own Rate Per Lesson. All booked lessons (group, private and level check) done on the platform will be paid equivalent to the teacher's rate per lesson. Students who are having their first lesson on Learntalk will credit the teacher the same amount, however, if the student decides to purchase credits after their first class, then the teacher will be credited an additional 25% of their rate as a bonus.
Lessons through the Open Bookings function will only credit the teacher an amount equivalent to the student's subscription rate.

Resignation/Exit Policy

  1. All Learntalk teachers are required to give 30 days prior notice in writing for their resignation to take effect unless otherwise specified in writing by Learntalk management.

  2. During this time, they are required to continue teaching their scheduled classes however they may close out unbooked remaining availabilities on the platform.

  3. Prior to finally ending their contract, it is the teacher’s responsibility to have no more availabilities listed on the platform, beyond their date of termination. They are also responsible for ensuring that any existing repeat students are transferred to other teachers.

  4. Failure to do any of the above points will result in the withholding of outstanding payments from the previous cutoff as these will be considered as “a bond” for purposes of proper contractual enforcement.
